The Experiments Raising European Students Awareness in Aeronautical Research Through School-Labs’ is the main objective of the project REStARTS. The objective of the project is to contribute in reversing the current trend of disinterest of young people towards aeronautics. In this project, the partners of the aeronautical research and training institutes develop informative material about current research topics in aeronautics including basic aerodynamic fundamentals like ‘How does an airplane fly?’ or special challenges the aeronautical research is facing like ‘How greening air transport?’ or ‘How to ensure satisfaction, safety and security of the passengers?’ . This demonstrates the direct link between research and society. The scientists work in cooperation with a pedagogic team and teachers of local schools to compile under standable teaching material, which also includes simple experiments to demonstrate the physical phenomena being investigated. The school lessons based on this material give a first impression of the challenges of the modern aeronautical research. The school-labs established at the research institutes provide more sophisticated experiments and enable school classes to get a hands-on experience inscientific work. Additional visits of the laboratories of the project partners and their industrial partners complete the program. This will build bridges between school theory and applied research by delivering an insight to the work of research organisations. The ambition is to stimulate young people’s interests in a R&D career in aeronautics and to create a European network of Aeronautical School-Labs. http://www.fp7-restarts.eu/index.php/home/root/state-of-the-art/results/the-experiments/36-booklets/program-of-sessions-concept-of-force 2017-06-03T19:27:25+00:00 Joomla! - Open Source Content Management Session 1: How do I understand a force? 2012-02-01T14:39:25+00:00 2012-02-01T14:39:25+00:00 http://www.fp7-restarts.eu/index.php/home/root/state-of-the-art/results/the-experiments/36-booklets/program-of-sessions-concept-of-force/62-session-1-how-do-i-understand-a-force Administrator debeer@vki.ac.be <div class="feed-description"><p style="text-align: left;"><img src="images/event/session1force/imgp0905.jpg" border="0" alt="imgp0905" width="100" height="75" style="float: none;" />Before you start the investigation on the concept of force, this session will help you to access the mental representation that students have about forces.</p> </div> <div class="feed-description"><p style="text-align: left;"><img src="images/event/session1force/imgp0905.jpg" border="0" alt="imgp0905" width="100" height="75" style="float: none;" />Before you start the investigation on the concept of force, this session will help you to access the mental representation that students have about forces.</p> </div> Session 2: Let’s experience Forces 2012-02-01T14:50:23+00:00 2012-02-01T14:50:23+00:00 http://www.fp7-restarts.eu/index.php/home/root/state-of-the-art/results/the-experiments/36-booklets/program-of-sessions-concept-of-force/63-session-2-lets-experience-forces Administrator debeer@vki.ac.be <div class="feed-description"><p style="text-align: left;">At this age, primary school, we want that the pupils experience with their bodies that the effect of forces are directional, vary in intensity (and are applied at one point).</p> </div> <div class="feed-description"><p style="text-align: left;">At this age, primary school, we want that the pupils experience with their bodies that the effect of forces are directional, vary in intensity (and are applied at one point).</p> </div> Session 3: Measure a force 2012-02-01T14:56:46+00:00 2012-02-01T14:56:46+00:00 http://www.fp7-restarts.eu/index.php/home/root/state-of-the-art/results/the-experiments/36-booklets/program-of-sessions-concept-of-force/64-session-3-measure-a-force Administrator debeer@vki.ac.be <div class="feed-description"><p><strong>Objective 1:</strong> Introduce the quantification of a force</p> <p><strong>Objective 2: </strong>Relate experimentally Force and Mass</p> </div> <div class="feed-description"><p><strong>Objective 1:</strong> Introduce the quantification of a force</p> <p><strong>Objective 2: </strong>Relate experimentally Force and Mass</p> </div> Session 4: Balance of forces – Velocity = 0 2012-02-02T09:05:58+00:00 2012-02-02T09:05:58+00:00 http://www.fp7-restarts.eu/index.php/home/root/state-of-the-art/results/the-experiments/36-booklets/program-of-sessions-concept-of-force/65-session-4-balance-of-forces-velocity-0 Administrator debeer@vki.ac.be <div class="feed-description"><p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Objectives 1:</strong> To show that a static object (velocity equal to zero) is subject to balanced forces.</p> </div> <div class="feed-description"><p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Objectives 1:</strong> To show that a static object (velocity equal to zero) is subject to balanced forces.</p> </div>
