The Experiments Raising European Students Awareness in Aeronautical Research Through School-Labs’ is the main objective of the project REStARTS. The objective of the project is to contribute in reversing the current trend of disinterest of young people towards aeronautics. In this project, the partners of the aeronautical research and training institutes develop informative material about current research topics in aeronautics including basic aerodynamic fundamentals like ‘How does an airplane fly?’ or special challenges the aeronautical research is facing like ‘How greening air transport?’ or ‘How to ensure satisfaction, safety and security of the passengers?’ . This demonstrates the direct link between research and society. The scientists work in cooperation with a pedagogic team and teachers of local schools to compile under standable teaching material, which also includes simple experiments to demonstrate the physical phenomena being investigated. The school lessons based on this material give a first impression of the challenges of the modern aeronautical research. The school-labs established at the research institutes provide more sophisticated experiments and enable school classes to get a hands-on experience inscientific work. Additional visits of the laboratories of the project partners and their industrial partners complete the program. This will build bridges between school theory and applied research by delivering an insight to the work of research organisations. The ambition is to stimulate young people’s interests in a R&D career in aeronautics and to create a European network of Aeronautical School-Labs. http://www.fp7-restarts.eu/index.php/home/root/state-of-the-art/results/the-experiments/52-booklets-safety/flight-at-high-altitude 2017-06-03T19:27:54+00:00 Joomla! - Open Source Content Management Session 1: Flight at high altitude 2012-02-20T13:43:34+00:00 2012-02-20T13:43:34+00:00 http://www.fp7-restarts.eu/index.php/home/root/state-of-the-art/results/the-experiments/52-booklets-safety/flight-at-high-altitude/96-section-3-0-flight-at-high-altitude Administrator debeer@vki.ac.be <div class="feed-description"><p>Objective1: Emphasise critical aspect of high altitude cruise flight: very low pressure and temperature</p> <p>Objective2: Show to students how passenger and crew life can be assured in an high altitude flight</p> <p>Objective3: Give examples of some critical condition and  how they are managed</p> </div> <div class="feed-description"><p>Objective1: Emphasise critical aspect of high altitude cruise flight: very low pressure and temperature</p> <p>Objective2: Show to students how passenger and crew life can be assured in an high altitude flight</p> <p>Objective3: Give examples of some critical condition and  how they are managed</p> </div> Session 2: How works a pressurized fuselage 2012-02-20T13:48:54+00:00 2012-02-20T13:48:54+00:00 http://www.fp7-restarts.eu/index.php/home/root/state-of-the-art/results/the-experiments/52-booklets-safety/flight-at-high-altitude/97-session-3-1-how-works-a-pressurized-fuselage Administrator debeer@vki.ac.be <div class="feed-description"><p>Objective: Explain that a fuselage of an airplane designed to fly at high altitude, besides other loads has to withstand  a differential pressure between the external (atmosphere static) pressure and  the internal thermodynamic pressure.</p> </div> <div class="feed-description"><p>Objective: Explain that a fuselage of an airplane designed to fly at high altitude, besides other loads has to withstand  a differential pressure between the external (atmosphere static) pressure and  the internal thermodynamic pressure.</p> </div> Session 3: Ice Problems 2012-02-20T14:03:53+00:00 2012-02-20T14:03:53+00:00 http://www.fp7-restarts.eu/index.php/home/root/state-of-the-art/results/the-experiments/52-booklets-safety/flight-at-high-altitude/98-session-3-2-ice-problems Administrator debeer@vki.ac.be <div class="feed-description"><p>Objective 1: Explain problems and solutions in case of ice conditions <br />Objective 2: Give an insight in the today applied research on  ice problems  in aeronautical field</p> </div> <div class="feed-description"><p>Objective 1: Explain problems and solutions in case of ice conditions <br />Objective 2: Give an insight in the today applied research on  ice problems  in aeronautical field</p> </div>
